Man charged in Lacy Lakeview crash

News

Lacy Lakeview police have arrested a man they say walked away from a 2018 traffic crash,  then ended up in the hospital himself.

Victor Garza was booked into the McLennan County Jail Thursday on a charge of accident involving personal injury or death.

Lacy Lakeview Police Chief John Truehitt  said Garza was the driver of a vehicle that crashed into the rear of another vehicle on Loop 340 and New Dallas Highway on December 2, 2018 about 7:30 a.m.

When police arrived they found he had walked away.

After a search they found him a short distance away claiming he needed to charge his phone to call in the wreck.

Police say he was found in possession of marijuana and hydrocodone.

It was determined that he needed medical treatment as a result of the crash and was taken to a hospital.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Garza and he was found Thursday and taken to jail.
