A 25-year-old McLennan County man has been arrested by sheriff’s deputies accused of assaulting and choking his ex-girlfriend and her dog.

The complaint affidavit filed in support of the warrant request indicated deputies were sent to the 4400 block of Old Dallas Road in Elm Mott January 29 in regard to a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived, they made contact with the female victim and observed various injuries.

She said that she and her ex-boyfriend began to argue and things turned physical.

The victim told deputies she was grabbed around the neck and was having trouble breathing, then was grabbed by the hair and slammed against the headboard of her bed.

The victim told deputies that he grabbed her dog and began to choke the dog which gave a loud scream.

The victim believed her pet was dead and tried to lock herself in a room to call 9-1-1.

She said that her attacker forced his way into the bathroom and blocked the call for help.

The affidavit said that deputies were told that when Stringer left the residence before law enforcement got therethat he threatened the victim stating he would ” slit everyone’s throat if she called the cops.”

Stringer was booked into the jail on charges of assault strangulation which is a third degree felony, interference with an emergency call,  terroristic threat and cruelty to non-livestock animals.

Bond was set at $15,000.
