Man convicted of 1989 Axtell murders executed

The man convicted of murdering an Axtell couple and their son in 1989 has been executed.

Billie Wayne Coble was scheduled to die by lethal injection in Huntsville, Texas, and was pronounced dead at 6:24 p.m.

The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles denied requests on Tuesday to delay his execution.

Coble was sentenced for the murders of his brother-in-law and his parents at their home in Axtell. Coble killed the three, tied up four children and kidnapped the victim’s estranged wife.

Coble crashed his car during a chase with police.

Coble’s last statement was, “Yes sir, that will be five dollars. I love you, I love you and I love you. Mike, I love you. Where’s Nelley at? I love you. That will be five dollars. Take care.”
