Man gets 6 years for torching house

News

A Waco man has been sentenced to six years in prison in connection with the burning of a vacant house.

David Bryan Freeman had turned himself in when he learned investigators were looking for him.

A warrant for Freeman was issued following the investigation into the fire at 2525 North 21st Street.

Firefighters had reported heavy smoke and flames visible when they responded to the fire, with the house being considered a total loss.

They quickly determined that the fire had been intentionally set.

Court papers indicated that during the investigation  a person had called into the dispatch center to report that he had received a text message saying that someone had set a fire at that location, with the text coming from Freeman’s cell phone number.
