Midway ISD student wins in art contest

News

A fifth-grade student at Midway ISD’s River Valley Intermediate School has won recognition in Region 9 of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality  Art Contest.

The work by Caleb Brooks will appear along with winning artwork from other regions of the state on the Take Care of Texas and TCEQ websites, newsletters and social media.

Each of the TCEQ regional offices selected winners who will each receive a Samsung tablet for their creative work.

Students were asked to submit artwork showing how they help keep the air and water clean, conserve water and energy and reduce waste

TCEQ reports receiving over 5200 entries, which is twice the number of entries the contest received last year.

The statewide winner was Mira Patel, a fifth grade student at Madden Elementary School in Richmond, Texas.
