A Thanksgiving tradition has been bringing community members together for eight years.
These people may not have a place or family to celebrate Thanksgiving with.
The Misfits Thanksgiving Dinner begins Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
Summer Shine is the owner of the Luna Juice Bar, and is the Misfits Thanksgiving event organizer. She says it doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from – there’s a place for you this Thanksgiving.
Shine says she is expecting more people than in years’ past. She says they will provide the Dr. Pepper glazed turkeys and three hams with all the fixin’s. They will also have some healthy options and vegan options.
For this year, they are also going to put out a donation bucket and all proceeds will go to the Sunshine Recovery House.
Shine says she knows what its like to be an outcast and says you don’t have to be alone this year.
“We call it Misfits Thanksgiving because it’s an opportunity for anyone who just doesn’t quite fit in to family or in to community. If you don’t have any family or if you’re not in touch with them, this is the place to come. Nobody is a misfit here,” Shine explains.
