Robinson parent reacts to doctor’s child porn charges

News

Following the arrest of a Temple pediatric doctor John Palmer, one parent – Brandie spoke with Fox 44 Saturday about the charges he faces.

The doctor faces charges for child pornography.

He was fired from McLane Children’s Baylor Scott and White Hospital on Friday.

Brandie, whose son Devon was treated by 55-year-old Dr. Palmer for a year for breathing issues says she never saw any red flags in this doctor.
But she feels shocked and appalled that he faces these accusations.

She says, “You think that a doctor is supposed to be who you trust, who you go to, and who you believe in and to hear about that it was a shocker.”

Brandie’s son had a stroke out of a blue when he was 13.

“It was a brain stem stroke so it took down everything from his neck down and for a week he could only blink his eyes at us,” says Brandie.

She says she and her son loved the doctor who specialized in treating lungs.

“He was wonderful with my son and he was always very responsive to messages. I loved that he really listened to me as a parent.”

Brandi feels relieved that her son could not be a victim in this case.

“I am very thankful that he has never been left alone with him, so I don’t have to wonder about that at all as a parent ,” she says.

But she’s happy the doctor is gone regardless of whether he’s convicted or not.

“I don’t want my son over there with him.”

The mother has a clear message for those interested in child porn.

“You don’t mess with kids, you don’t mess with them.”

Brandi says she’s in the process of finding another doctor for her son.

But she’s worried this will interfere with his treatments.
