Temple police make an arrest in deadly beating

Temple police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Manish Patel.

28-year-old Montreal Wright is accused of beating Patel to death on February 12th at the Econo Lodge on North General Bruce Drive.

Patel was transported to Scott & White due to the extent of his injuries, where he was in critical condition. Through the course of the investigation, detectives found he had been assaulted by an individual who subsequently left the scene.

The 44-year-old Patel succumbed to his injuries on February 17, and police reclassified the case from an assault to a homicide.

On Saturday, March 2nd, Temple police officers pulled Wright over for a traffic violation in the 200 block of N. General Bruce Drive.  They recognized him and knew he was wanted for Patel’s murder.  They took him into custody without incident.
