Waco ISD put two schools on a soft lockdown as police confronted a barricaded person in a home on Chestnut Street.

Those schools are J.H. Hines Elementary School and G. L. Wiley Opportunity Center.

Police officers attempted to serve the man a warrant for a parole violation earlier today but he would not come out of the house. They believe he is armed.

The suspect has been identified as a man in his 30s, and is wanted for a parole violation. He was in jail previously for burglary.

The school district says the schools are locked down as a precaution and classes are continuing as scheduled.
