Abbott Baseball Ready for Return to Round Rock

Abbott, TX - The Abbott Panthers are going back to The State Tournament for the 3rd time in school history trying to go back-to-back at Dell Diamond.

The 2017 State Champions will open the State tournament at 9:00am on Wednesday morning, looking forward to being back at the site of Their Championship run.

"[It's] Pretty incredible you know, going to Round Rock once is pretty special, but to go back to back years is really a dream come true you know," Senior Daylan Schulz said. "Playing little league with these guys for 10 years and all the hard work we've put in is paying off 2 years straight, we have the chance to do something pretty cool."

The Panthers have had a tough road to get back to this point but their head coach Kyle Crawford feels like that has helped them get to this point.

"This team's a lot different than last year," he said. "This teams been through a lot of adversity this year, we battled some injuries early in the year, and about the second time through district we started getting healthy and started putting it all together and figured out who this team was and that created a sense of clarity for the guys, and they were able to go out and just play."

The Panthers will face a familiar foe in Fayetteville, the team the Panthers beat to win the Title in 2017. They will square off on Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM, in the first game of the UIL state Tournament.
