Aggies Even LSU Series With 9-2 Triumph

COLLEGE STATION, Texas No. 19 Texas A&M put up five runs in the bottom of the first inning and lefty John Doxakis cruised through 8.0 innings as the Aggies toppled the No. 20 LSU Tigers Friday night on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park to even the three-game series.

The five-run first inning, continued a trend for the Maroon & White as they’ve outscored opponents 33-3 in the opening chapter this season.

The Aggies pounded out 12 hits on the day, including six in the first-inning uprising. Logan Foster batted 3-for-3 with two walks and two runs to pace the attack. Braden Shewmake, Cole Bedford and Zach DeLoach each notched two hits. Shewmake hit 2-for-5 with one RBI and one stolen base. Bedford batted 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI and DeLoach was 2-for-4 with one double, one run and two RBI.

Doxakis (5-1) yielded just two runs on a wind-aided home run, scattering six hits and four walks while striking out five. Asa Lacy diced up the Tigers in the ninth inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Texas A&M improved to 22-9 overall and 4-7 in the SEC. LSU dropped to 20-12 overall and 6-5 in league play.
