WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis senior Jimmy Bendeck was named a College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) First Team Academic All-District selection, announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
A double major in finance and entrepreneurship & corporate innovation, the senior from Hollywood, Fla. has amassed a 3.90 cumulative GPA during his time in Waco. He is the fourth player and fifth program selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
Baylor also had Benjamin Becker (2003), Michal Kokta (2006) and Dominik Mueller (2009, 2010) earn the academic honor.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Next up, Bendeck and sophomore Sven Lah are the top-seeded team in the NCAA Doubles Championship bracket. The tournament runs May 20-25 in Orlando, Fla. at the USTA National Campus.
Bendeck finished his singles career with a 77-40 overall record and has the chance to improve on his 75-37 doubles record in the NCAA Individual Championships.
