Baylor Soccer Rolls Past UTRGV, 2-0

Baylor Press Release

WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer (7-3-0) closed out its strong non-conference schedule with a commanding 2-0 win over UT Rio Grande Valley on Sunday afternoon at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field.

Baylor scored a goal in each of the two periods, picking up scores in near identical fashion to Thursday night’s 2-0 win over Butler.

Once again, freshman Giuliana Cunningham got the scoring started on an assist by Jackie Crowther. Crowther took the corner kick for the Bears, serving up a ball that Cunningham won on a header shot. Cunningham found the back of the net to give BU the 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute.

Flipping to the second half, BU took advantage of a UTRGV foul, bringing goalkeeper Jennifer Wandt out to take a free kick from midfield.

Wandt served a deep pass into the box, bouncing between the BU and UTRGV scrum. The ball ended up knocked free right to Raegan Padgett who gathered with enough time to lace through her second goal of the weekend, sewing up the 2-0 victory for the Bears.
