UMHB head football coach, Pete Fredenburg, has a special connection to fellow HOF class member, Gerald Myers.  Fredenburg transferred to Monterey high school in Lubbock, and played basketball for Myers, who significantly impacted Fredenburg’s life.

“… he coached me and taught me so much, and taught me so much in such a short time,” Pete Fredenburg said.  “He was a great teacher, and you know the amazing thing that we always hope, his impact on me, he didn’t have any idea, and you hope you have the same kind of impact on the guys that you get to coach.”

Former Texas A&M quarterback and three time Super Bowl Champion, Gary Kubiak, was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, with a large group of family and friends by his side.  Kubiak was joined by Hall of Famer John Elway, in addition to Case Keenum and other former players. 

“… all my family is here, and to hear that those guys are making the trip as well, means a great deal,” Gary Kubiak said.  “You know, so I look forward to seeing them, and sharing this special evening with them…”
