The Midway Panthers have been improving every week, staring down their two toughest district games in the final two weeks of the season.
The first of those two games will be the Temple Wildcats on Friday night where a share of the 12-6A title will be on the line.
Midway Coach Jeff Hulme has been looking but hasn’t been able to find a weakness in the Wildcats.
“I can’t find any weaknesses,” he said with a smile. “There’s probably a lot smarter coaches out there that can probably find some but they’re 8-0 for a reason. Coach Stewart and those guys do a great job, it starts with both their lines, their offensive line is strong their defensive line is strong and that’s what makes them go.”
With the Panthers having a strangle-hold on this district over the past few years and they don’t plan on letting go this week.
“We feel like we should win the district every years and we do our best to do that,” Senior Xavier Abalos said. “They’re a pretty good team, so are we, so it should be a pretty good match-up.”
The Midway Panthers have gone as their quarterback Nick Jimenez has gone. Each week he has been getting more comfortable and the team has been following his lead.
“Yeah, I see it every day in practice and i’m seeing like a big change from my o-line and we’ve stepped it up a lot, and I’m proud of that,” He said.
