It was not easy for the Baylor Lady Bears in Morgantown, West Virginia on Monday night but they pushed their way to a win against a feisty West Virginia team.
The Mountaineers were physical with the Lady Bears, holding them to just 36 percent shooting in the second half, Mulkey credits West Virginia for making them earn everything.
“I believe in giving credit to the opponent,” she said. “I just thought their defense, they were touching and pushing and shoving. And why not? Get out there and play.”
Junior Lauren Cox, led the way for the Lady Bears with 22 points said Saturday served as a good reminder that every team is going to give Baylor their best shot.
“I think it’s good to have these kinds of games because it reminds us that we can’t take any team for granted,” Cox said. “We have to fight to the finish every game.”
The Lady Bears will open the Big 12 tournament on Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm from the Big 12 tournament, in Oklahoma City.
