Waco, Texas - The Lake Air softball team won the 2017 Little League World Series, under head coach David Rodriguez. This year, Lake Air has a new head coach, Michael Gonzales, who moved up with his players from the previous age group.
"I told them we have a bulls eye on our back from the beginning..." Gonzales said.
Lake Air has four returning players from the 2017 Little League World Series team, and they're eager to get back to Portland.
"We want to get back to World Series, so we can show that we can conquer that again, even though we don't have the same people," Serenity Cade-Williams said.
The new players want to follow in the same footsteps as last years team, and the four veterans have showed them what it will take to get there.
"It's great because we have a lot of leaders on our team and they can show us how to do this again," Adriana Arias said.
"We have to work together, and be a team and really get to know each other, and communicate," Mia Gonzales said.
This week, Lake Air is hosting the District 9 Little League All Star Tournament, and their first game is tomorrow, at 6:00 pm.
