The Lorena Leopards not only survived a very competitive district 8-4A division two, the conquered it winning the district title.

After an easy win against Brownsboro in the Bi-District, the Leopards will run up against Liberty-Eylau who enters with a 4-7 record, but scheduled teams like La Vega, Carthage and Argyle, to prepare them for playoff football.

The tough games Lorena played week-in-and-week-out during their district schedule has them feeling prepared to take on any challenger.

“It gets you ready for the type of people you’re going to play in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, whatever round,” head Coach Ray Biles said. “It’s an asset for us for our district to be strong. If you get out you feel like You’ve got a good chance to make a good run.”

Senior defensive back Cade Michna likes the way his team responded to the weekly challenges.

“During district we saw a lot of athletes and we were able to step up, play against them and play well, to kind of help us prepare for the playoffs,” he said.

The battle of the Leopards will begin at 6:00pm on Friday night in Royse City.
