Manziel Closes The Book on Spring League

Austin, TX - Johnny Manziel finished up the Spring League with a pair of rushing touchdowns, but an 0-2 record in Austin.

For Manziel this was a big step for him getting back on the field and enjoying football for the first time in a few years.

"I'm firery," he said. "I'm competitive and I love being out there, like, I'm having fun. Wether we're talking crap and I throw a pick on the next play, whatever that's part of the game. You Talk, you back it up and you do what you try and do to go win the game. We didn't do it two times but listen, I'm seeing stuff again, I'm throwing the ball, I'm running around, I'm getting hit and I have a smile on my face while I'm doing it. I'm having fun."

Manziel teamed up with a couple of former Baylor Bears, connecting with Antwan Goodley for a few big plays in his two games in Austin. A Kerrville native, and former Aggie, Johnny enjoyed playing with some Central Texas Athletes.

"I can't be more thankful for the guys that we did have there, on our team," he said. "There were guys that played at Baylor, guys that played at Arkansas, guys that played around where I was from and played against so we had fun. It was fun messing around with the guys, it was fun giving people crap about certain things, that's exactly what I wanted, no matter the outcome, no matter what happened, I got to do exactly what I wanted to do and I've been missing for two and a half years."

Manziel will now have until Mid-May to decide if he will join the Canadian Football League.
