AMES, Iowa – No. 19/20 Baylor softball (32-14, 9-6 Big 12) grinded out a 4-3 win to clinch the series over Iowa State (22-27, 3-11 Big 12) on Saturday afternoon at Cyclone Sports Complex.
Regan Green (10-4) made the start for the Lady Bears, going 4.2 frames and allowing six hits, three runs, and a walk, adding two strikeouts.
Gia Rodoni picked up her first save of the season, entering with two outs in the fifth and holding the Cyclones to two hits and three strikeouts to preserve the win for BU.
The Lady Bears got off to a quick start, with Jessie Scroggins dropping a bunt single in on the first pitch of the ballgame in the top of the first.
Kyla Walker legged out an infield single, leading into an RBI single for Shelby Friudenberg that would score Scroggins from second.
Goose McGlaun cracked the game open with a three-run bomb to centerfield, giving the Lady Bears the 4-0 lead through the first frame.
The Cyclones would tighten the game to a one-run BU advantage with a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the third, but the Lady Bears kept ISU off the plate for the rest of the game to take the series win.
