Omaha, NE - The Texas Longhorns are playing for their season on Tuesday afternoon when they meet the defending Champion Florida Gators at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Longhorns faced elimination last weekend against Tennessee tech before reeling off a pair of wins to clinch their spot in Omaha. Having the day off in between games helps the Horns forget about Sunday and focus on staying alive.
"It's been tougher to flush when you have to turn around and play the next day," head coach David Pierce said. "Today we have a little breather. That's why the practice was very similar to -- the practice was the way it was. For the simple fact that we needed movement, swing the bat a little bit, take some ground balls, and get a little sweat in."
Junior Kody Clemens has been as hot as anyone on this Longhorn team over the last month and he knows they play their best with their backs against the wall.
"We have fight," he said. "Our whole team fights back. When our backs are against the wall we play better so, We'll see what happens and we're definitely going to be ready for Tuesday."
The Horns will play 65 minutes after completion of Mississippi State and North Carolina, which is slated for a 10:00am first-pitch in Omaha.
