UMHB Women’s Golf Finishes Second to Carleton College in Dual Match

HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golf team improved by 22 strokes but could not catch Carleton College in the final round a dual match Sunday in Houston. Olivia Robinson did win individual medalist honors for the Cru. The Knights are #1 in the country in the Golfstat Division III head-to-head rankings.

The Cru fired a final round 318 to finish with a 340-318=658 team total. Carleton won the dual match after carding a 320-317=637 for a 21-stroke victory over UMHB.

Robinson shot 73 on Sunday for the lowest round of the tournament and finished with an 82-73=155 to tie Carleton’s Ayumi Sakamoto (76-79=155) for individual lead. Robinson edged Sakamoto in a scorecard playoff to claim individual medalist honors and she shot 33 on the front nine on Sunday. Victoria Gleghorn shot 89-76=165 for the Cru, Cassidy Rawls posted 87-82=169, Annie Hasselbach posted 82-89=171, Taylor Abernathy fired an 85-87=172, Jade Ming finished with an 86-87=173, Macy Mitchell recorded a 92-94=186 and Annika Criss had a 99-98=197 for UMHB in the tournament.

The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,871-yard layout ay Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston. That course will serve as the host site for the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championships in May. The Cru women will return to action with the West Region Invitational in Georgetown on April 1-2nd.
